MASSAGE THERAPY PROGRAM
750 HOURS
The Massage Therapy Program is designed to prepare students for employment as a Licensed Massage Therapist. The program is approved by the Florida Board of Massage Therapy so that the graduates may take the board approved National Certification Examination and receive their license to practice. The program is taught by Licensed Massage Therapists approved by the Board of Massage. The role of massage and related bodywork methods is expanding at an accelerated rate. The massage therapy profession is becoming more professional with a strong emphasis in the science and the art of massage.
The first 90 hours of the program is the course "Health Science Core". Satisfactory completion of this program gives the student the opportunity to exit at Occupational Completion Point A, Basic Healthcare Worker, if they so desire.
The remaining content includes, but is not limited to, the theory and practice of massage, theory and practice of hydrotherapy, normal and abnormal human anatomy and physiology, legal aspects of massage therapy, allied modalities, leadership and human relations skills, health and safety, Healthcare Provider CPR and employability skills.
During supervised laboratory practice, the student will develop skills in manipulation of superficial tissues of the human body. Laboratory practice will include massage techniques and use of hydrotherapy equipment. Students will also receive instruction in adjunct and therapeutic exercise modalities.
Upon completion of the required hours of classroom/practicum at an 80% or better score, incorporating attendance and employability skills, the student is awarded a Certificate of Completion from Lee County High Tech Center Central.
Upon satisfactory completion of all requirements of the program, the student will sit for the National Certification Examination administered by the National Certification Board of Therapeutic Massage and Bodywork which is the first step to receiving a State of Florida License for Massage Therapy. After receiving the appropriate documentation from the Florida Board of Massage Therapy a person can begin working as a Licensed Massage Therapist.
Cost: $2,500.00
